SPATA Convention: Amsterdam

The city of Amsterdam is an exciting destination to discover as it influenced art, business, architecture, culture, and so much more on a scale you can only appreciate when you step into the magical canals that cut the city up into a walkable paradise. Amsterdam is a mix of everything; from world famous museums like the Rijk and Van Gogh, to the park that inspired not only Central Park in New York City but also the book Alice in Wonderland, Vondel Park, to the financial and commercial capital of the world, to the controversial Red Light District that is home to legal prostitution and the even more controversial legal marijuana Coffee Shops distributed across the city, to being home of Heineken and Amstel beer (careful which bar you go to!)… Amsterdam has something for everyone, and often the top shelf variety of the best people love.

SPATA’s 65th Annual Convention began their journey here with the Polish Traces in Amsterdam exhibition. The Society of Polish American Travel Agents spent several days in this incredible city, enjoying an off-season tour that included boat rides, museum visits, castle feasts, flea markets, and city tours.

SPATA would like to extend a very special thank you to Bożena Kopczyńska, Chairperson of the Polish Culture NL Board, who provided the SPATA group with unforgettable city guided tours. Bożena is one of Poland’s passionate ambassadors in this city and took great care in exploring Polish influence that has, until now, not been a part of any tour. Thanks to her guided walks, we were able to discover these Polish traces now, and will pass them on as we tell our stories. Thank you Bożena!
