SPATA Global Ambassador for Poland

The SPATA Global Ambassador for Poland program was established by the Society of Polish American Travel Agents in order to honor exceptional individuals who promote Polish identity on the world stage. The honor is reserved for Polish nationals at the head of major influential programs that reach beyond the borders of Poland to establish and maintain a distinct and noble cultural identity for Polish tourism, business, and entertainment. Considerations for this honor take into account (a) the scope of the program and target audience, (b) the program’s inclusion of Polish heritage, history, influence, and impact, as well as (c) the individual’s position and influence in generating subsequent and additional endeavors that contribute to this goal.

Since 1959, the Society of Polish American Travel Agents is one of the oldest and most influential organizations of Polish nationals in the United States that operates on the world stage in order to negotiate for Polish interests alongside politicians and diplomats via tourism and Polish national identity. Since its founding, the honorable members of SPATA have been some of the most visible ambassadors addressing global matters at major conferences and conventions, often being the first point of contact for Polish nationals living abroad, individuals of Polish heritage, foreign tourism to Poland, business and cultural interests, as well as establishing the path for Poland’s role in the international arena for practically all other interests. SPATA’s influence has paved the way for major international investment, lasting travel and tourism relationships that have revitalized economic goals, and, most importantly, promoting Poland’s reputation as a reliable and prosperous business partner.

As a SPATA Global Ambassador for Poland, an honoree is welcomed to New York City at distinguished events and appearances that promote their initiative to the vast Polish diaspora as well as much broader American audience. Polish National Pulaski Day Parade in New York City

The Pulaski Day Parade is a major annual Polish celebration that closes down Fifth Avenue in New York City to honor the Polish hero Casimir Pulaski who was instrumental in securing America’s victory in the Revolutionary War. Held every year since 1937, the parade is considered one of the oldest ethnic parades in New York City.

The Pulaski Day Parade is both a civic and cultural occasion, showcasing Polish heritage to a broader American audience. Its participants include Polish-language supplementary schools, scouting groups, fraternal and veterans’ organizations, dance ensembles, and university student clubs. Dressed in traditional costumes, participants perform regional dances, display historical placards, and distribute cultural materials. Floats and banners often highlight key moments in Polish history and tributes to Pulaski’s legacy. The parade provides a multi-generational experience and is seen as a powerful expression of unity within the Polish diaspora. Onlookers line Fifth Avenue waving red-and-white flags, often cheering in both Polish and English. Religious elements remain core to the event: the morning Mass, often led by Polish clergy, features Polish hymns and blessings for the community. The SPATA Global Ambassador for Poland will be hosted at the head of SPATA for the parade.
